Biography

Alexandra L. Silverman, PhD, is a clinician scientist in the Cognition and Affect Research and Education (CARE) Laboratory at McLean Hospital. Her research focuses on developing, evaluating, and implementing digital mental health interventions for anxiety and depression in clinical practice settings. Her goal for this work is to increase access to effective care, particularly among people who have limited access to traditional treatment options.

Dr. Silverman’s recent projects have leveraged human-centered design and implementation science methods to build, test, and implement digital interventions to support people on treatment waitlists. Her work has been supported by the PEO Scholar Award, McLean’s Pope-Hintz Fellowship, Harvard Medical School’s Livingston Fellowship, and Health Resources in Action’s Charles A. King Trust Fellowship. In addition to her research, Dr. Silverman has expertise in cognitive-behavioral and acceptance-based therapies for anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She currently leads ACT and CBT groups at McLean’s residential treatment programs Appleton and The Pavilion.
