Biography
Leonard Gebhard, RN, recently joined McLean’s nursing leadership team. He was formerly the associate chief nursing officer for Behavioral Health and Emergency Services at Mass General Brigham (MGB) Salem Hospital. Currently, Mr. Gebhard is a key member of McLean’s nursing leadership, leveraging over 30 years’ experience to lead nurses to deliver evidence-based, quality care to patients and loved ones. Within the collaborative leadership team, he works to ensure that nursing operational, quality, innovation, and business strategies integrate effectively with hospital and systemwide priorities.
In his time with MGB, Mr. Gebhard has held multiple nursing leadership roles where he has built high-performance teams and driven multiple quality and efficiency transformations, while ensuring regulatory integrity and compliance. He was instrumental in the development of the Epstein Center for Behavioral Health and the consolidation of Salem and Union Hospitals’ inpatient psychiatry care in 2019 and led the development of MGB’s first COVID sub-unit in spring 2020, followed by the acute mental health unit of the Emergency Department in 2022.
