Through conferences and workshops for clinicians, the Gunderson Personality Disorders Institute aims to increase quality of care and access to treatment for patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD).

Course topics include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), general psychiatric management (GPM), mentalization-based treatment (MBT)—offered in conjunction with the Anna Freud Centre for Children and Families, and transference-focused psychotherapy (TFP)—offered in conjunction with TFP-New York.

Self Pathology and Personality Disorder

This 2-day workshop will outline current gaps and lack of a consensus in understanding the self before reviewing an evolutionary approach to selfhood. The course will describe the role of the self in personality disorder and different forms of self pathology, outline the implications of this model for both diagnostic classification and treatment of personality disorders, and demonstrate good clinical practice through case vignettes.
